Wood Mosaic Square Pendant

A mosaic of various woods set in a sterling silver pendant.

This wonderful piece features wood found all around the world. It contains Ebony, Rock Maple, Purple Heart, Brazilwood, Kadamu, American Walnut, Osage Orange, Lignum Vitae, and Australian Gidgee.

Like many of my pieces, this pendant is backless. No matter which way the pendant rests, the design will be able to be seen.

This exact design is piece number two of an edition of three. I plan to create more mosaics in this style, but this exact arrangement will not be repeated.

Wood is a beautiful, colourful, lightweight material, but it is not as long lasting or resistant as stone. I have used a simple wax polish that will protect the wood from oils and light damage. The benefits of this kind of polish are that it is more natural and lightweight than heavier varnishes, and can be easily reapplied at home as time passes. Keep away from alcohol or acetone cleaners.
